What is slavery?
Words are getting lost,
just erased.
The names are to me
unknown,
spoken in some foreign
tongue.
Cafes, shopping
centers shine with advertisements
the names of which are
unknown to me.
Where have they gone,
Sava, Drina,
Danube, Zlatibor, Tara?
Am I dreaming to be in my city?
"Buddy" is brother,
"chitchat" is conversation,
"shopping pazar".
Oh, why this distorted,
newly-rich style.
The gap between parents and children,
words are missing,
an old mother,
a fossilized grandmother.
God forgive me, I don't understand.
Who is playing slyly,
who steals my words?
I want to understand,
what they wanted to say.
Let's preserve the words,
they're slowly fading,
being devoured by oblivion.
I want to understand you.
