Hands are blue,
they no longer dance.
Morning greeted me
like an unwanted gift,
wrapped in a gloomy box.
One love
got lost in time.
Tears choked
within the letter of a word
that no one understands anymore.
How do you say I love you?
Broken, interrupted
threads of meaning
have torn eternity apart.
In my throat, I cultivate blackberries.
Words shatter
and I lose them.
If only I could
plant meaning
in tiny seedlings.
And transplant it into a playful garden.
Let the wind dry out words
that no one needs.
Perhaps some child will wander
and assemble a kaleidoscope
from colorful swallowed tears
with a taste of blueberries.

Darija Rupčić Kelam is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek, at the Department of Philosophy. She holds a Ph.D. in philosophy and intertwines her two great loves, dance and philosophy. She has also become a dance and movement therapist at the Postgraduate Specialist Study of Creative Therapies at the Academy of Culture and Arts in Osijek.

Besides dance, which is her life, driving force, and personal expression, her hobbies and interests include writing poetry, prose, philosophical essays, and scientific papers on existential themes. She loves nature, rivers, mountains, poetry, photography, philosophy, art, traveling, and sports. She plays the ukulele, dances salsa, ballet, jazz dance, and pole dance. She is the mother of three wonderful, talented, and empathetic children.
